Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are you going to publish your work in book format?

Answer: This is a question I used to get a lot from older relatives interested in learning more about the research I've done over the last few decades. At this time, have no plans to convert my research to a book format, especially when so many more people can have access to the most up-to-date discoveries here online. I believe this is the more efficient way to share my work, so if you need to print something out to share with Aunt Millie, by all means, feel free. If you use my work within your own family trees, I  just ask that you please do a better job than I did in my youth of sourcing it, and show me a little love with a link back to my site.

Q: When will you be finished with your research?

Answer: Hahahahaha!

Q: What should I do if I see mistakes in your work?

Answer: I have done the best I can to collect information from a wide variety of sources, and make sense of the facts I've found. I make no guarantees that my work is 100% accurate, only that it is as accurate as I have been able to make it, given the time and resources available to me. I'd rather provide too much information and hope that it contains valuable clues and leads than too little (for fear of recording some inaccuracy). I have no doubt that there are mistakes. If you see them, let me know and I'll change them at my earliest convenience.

Q: Why are some family lines incomplete?

Answer: Because I am only one person and I can only do so much before I drop dead of sheer exhaustion or old age, whichever gets me first. The primary focus of my work has been to research and document my own family's direct ancestry. All of it. However, I keep chipping away at the full database, adding twigs and branches, trying to make it as complete as I can. As many of you know, keeping careful track of pedigrees can provide valuable clues to a family's migration and intermarriage patterns. If you want me to add your data, email me a detailed family group sheet and I will do my best to add it and make sure it gets posted during the next data upload.

Q: Can you mail me a printed copy of your research?

Answer: Ahhhmmm...no. No, that's what the internet and your inkjet printer are for.

Q: Can you mail me copies of your photos?

Answer: This is something which, in most cases, you can actually do on your end. Feel free to download and print any of the photos I've shared on Flickr which are attributed to me. Please do not share any photos online without appropriate attributions to the photo's owner (the attributions can be found in the descriptions of the photos). I have tried to upload high resolution images wherever possible so feel free to print and frame our mutual ancestors for your home. It's way cool. I am continuing to scan and upload old family photos from all four of my lineages on a regular basis, so keep checking Flickr to see what's new.
